    The Social Worker plans and implements the delivery of counseling services to families within a designated caseload. Counseling services include screening, assessment, intervention planning, implementation of intervention and transition planning.  These services are provided in collaboration with families and other professional staff and they reflect developmentally appropriate practice as well as cultural linguistic sensitivity.  The Social Worker also provides family service coordination when included on the IFSP and as appropriate. The employee works under regular direction according to the agency’s mission and philosophy and the department’s goals. All New Vistas employees are expected to demonstrate integrity and focus on New Vistas' mission and principles of independent living throughout all aspects of their work.


    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrate the core and position-specific competencies during their day to day work. Regular travel throughout the designated service area and occasional travel within the state are required for this position.  As a result, the employee must have a functional vehicle at his/her disposal along with a valid, non-suspended NM driver’s license and a current automobile liability policy with continuous coverage in order to perform this job successfully.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     Master’s degree in Social Work

    Five years of related experience

    Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

    Computer experience, knowledge of or demonstrated ability to learn Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, web and database applications

    Ability to self-direct and establish relationships with all levels within the organization, with clients and with external stakeholders and to think creatively and develop strategies for achieving programmatic objectives

    Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines, provide complex information in an understandable manner and accurately document processes

    Experience and/or knowledge of Reflective Practices, best practices in early intervention and community resources is highly desirable.

    Experience with provision of culturally appropriate services in multicultural communities is highly desirable


    • Current license to practice in Social Work in New Mexico
    • Eligibility for DSIII certification in New Mexico
    • Criminal background check through the New Mexico Department of Health as required
    • CPR and First Aid certificates
    • Valid New Mexico Driver’s License and current vehicle Insurance

    • Hourly rate is dependent on experience; New Vistas will negotiate the rate with the applicant offered the position.This position will be eligible for insurance benefits and paid leave.
